Pourquoi Rainbow Spot s’est-elle crée ?

L’Association Rainbow Spot s’est créée en mars 2019. Elle est le fruit d’une mise en commun de parcours personnels, d’engagement et d’expertises dans les domaines de la migration, du genre et des questions LGBTQIA+. Au vu de l’invisibilité des migrations LGBTQIA+, des lacunes au sein du réseau vaudois, et des problèmes complexes caractérisant ce domaine nécessitant une action spécifique, Rainbow Spot s’est créée pour répondre aux besoins spécifiques des personnes migrantes LGBTQIA+. Du fait d’une position à l’intersection de plusieurs discriminations (genre/sexualité, statut de séjour, origine culturelle) les personnes migrantes LGBTQIA+ sont en effet particulièrement exposées : aux violences, aux risques pesant sur la santé, ainsi qu’à la marginalisation sociale. Précisément en lien avec ce cumul de vulnérabilités, les migrant.e.x.s et réfugié.e.x.s LGBTQIA+ sont souvent contraint.e.x.s à l’invisibilité.

Qui constitue Rainbow Spot ?

Rainbow Spot est constitué d’un comité de 3 personnes, d’une équipe de 5 personnes (activités courantes), d’une équipe élargie (activités plus ponctuelles) de huit personnes, d’un groupe d’échanges et d’actions collectives d’une vingtaine de personnes. Parmi les personnes ayant fondé Rainbow Spot, une personne a un parcours de migration, une est issue de la migration, une autre n’a pas de parcours migratoire, toutes sont LGBTQIA+. Aujourd’hui cette diversité se retrouve parmi les personnes qui font vivre l’association. Rainbow Spot travaille à renforcer la participation des personnes migrantes et réfugiées en son sein.

Quelles sont les ressources de Rainbow Spot ?

Rainbow Spot s’est constituée de manière entièrement militante au départ. L’association ne disposait d’aucune ressource, mise à part un don de CHF 2000.- et d’un don en nature (ordinateur). Sa mise en place doit beaucoup à l’hospitalité de la Fédération syndicale SUD, qui depuis le début a hébergé Rainbow Spot dans ses locaux en lui prêtant un bureau pour certaines heures de la semaine. Actuellement, nous sommes dans les locaux de la Nouvelle’ADC. L’équipe de Rainbow Spot est au départ entièrement militante et elle le demeure en bonne partie. Dès 2020, l’association a obtenu des soutiens ponctuels du Bureau lausannois pour les immigrés (BLI) et du Bureau cantonal pour l’intégration des étrangers et la prévention du racisme (BCI), de communes vaudoises, et a reçu un financement des fondations Harlet Snug et OAK Foundation.

Why was Rainbow Spot Created?

The Rainbow Spot Association was established in March 2019. It is the result of bringing together personal experiences, commitment and expertise in the fields of migration, gender and LGBTQIA+ issues. In light of the invisibility of LGBTQIA+ migration, the gaps in the canton of Vaud network, and the complex problems characterizing this field and requiring specific action, Rainbow Spot was created to respond to the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ migrants. Due to their position at the intersection of several types of discrimination (gender/sexuality, residency status, cultural origin), LGBTQIA+ migrants are particularly exposed to violence, health risks and social marginalization. Precisely because of this accumulation of vulnerabilities, LGBTQIA+ migrants and refugees are often made invisible.

Who makes up Rainbow Spot?

Rainbow Spot is composed of a committee of 3 people, a team of 5 people (regular activities), an extended team of 8 people (ad hoc activities), and a group for discussion and collective action of approximately 20 people. Among those who founded Rainbow Spot, one person was a migrant, one is child of migrants, and another has no migration background, and all are LGBTQIA+. Today, this diversity is found among the people who keep the Association going. Rainbow Spot is working to strengthen the participation of migrants and refugees within the organization.

How is Rainbow Spot Funded?

Rainbow Spot was initially set up as an activist organisation. The association had no resources, apart from a donation of CHF 2,000 and a donation in kind (computer). Its establishment owes much to the hospitality of the SUD trade union federation, which from the outset has hosted Rainbow Spot on its premises, lending it an office for certain hours during the week. Currently, we are in the premises of the Nouvelle’ADC. The Rainbow Spot team started out as an all-activist team and much of it remains so. Since 2020, the association has received occasional support from the Bureau lausannois pour les immigrés (BLI) and the Bureau cantonal pour l’intégration des étrangers et la prévention du racisme (BCI), from the communes of Vaud, and has received funding from the Harlet Snug and OAK Foundations.
